The 10 Worst Gas Guzzler Cars You Can Buy

Updated on September 8, 2011

These days, we are all hurting when we put gas in our cars. The high cost of fuel is directly affecting the amount of liquid cash the average American has to spend on other items. Luxury items like food and housing are having to take a back seat to fuel in order for some of us to be able to get to work. That may be hyperbole, but one thing is for certain: few Americans are comfortable with today's gas prices. And let' s not forget the environment; consuming less gas would not only put more money back in our pockets each month, it would be a big favor to Mother Nature. With that in mind, here are the ten passenger vehicles that cost the most to drive and are the hardest on the environment.

1. Mercedes ML63 AMG

The Mercedes Benz ML63 AMG costs $400 a month in fuel and only gets 11 mpg in the city. That is, unfortunately, the price you pay for the extra performance that comes with the "AMG" badge.

2. Chevrolet Express G2500

The Chevrolet Express G2500 costs $373 a month in gas and only gets 10 mpg in the city. This van is exceedingly popular among churches and trade crews, second only to Ford Econoline van line.

3. Lincoln Navigator

The Lincoln Navigator costs over $400 a month in gas and only gets 13 mpg in the city. It was voted the ''Meanest Vehicle for the Environment'' by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy.

4. Lexus LFA

The Lexus LFA costs over $400 a month in gas and only gets 11 mpg in the city. Obviously there aren't a whole lot of these around; heck, Lexus controls who can buy them. Still, the LFA makes the list.

5. Ford F-150

The Ford F-150 only gets 11 mpg in the city. Remember, this is not just the number one selling truck in America; it's the best-selling vehicle in the US, regardless of class. However, the new V6 Eco-Boost engine may be able to turn around those numbers while still offering 365 hp.

6. Dodge Ram

The Dodge Ram only gets 13 mpg in the city.

7. Bentley Mulsanne

The Bentley Mulsanne is on the Meanest Vehicles for the Environment list and only gets 11 mpg.

8. BMW M6

The BMW M6 costs over $360 a month in gas and only gets 11 mpg in the city.

9. Bugatti Veyron

The Bugatti Veyron offers elegant styling and performance to spare, but only gets 8 mpg in the city. Sure, it costs like $1 million, so who can afford one? Still, it's fun to put cars like this on the list. After all, with big power comes big fuel bills!

10. Land Rover LR4

Sure, the LR4 can perform well off-road, but all-time AWD means 14 mpg combined. And who really takes their stately Land Rover off-road?
